I’m Mary Ember (the creative English translation for Marije Veenstra) and I blend the authentic sound of Americana with the vibrant energy of pop. I create sharp, insightful songs for broken souls with optimistic minds, who search for love and meaning. Think the emotional storytelling of Taylor Swift and the style of Gracie Abrams.
As for the creative process: I play piano, guitar, and sing. After the EP I will record an album and in the meantime, I focus on producing my own music as well. You can find me on open mics, showcases and (living-room)concerts and you can find me on the streaming platforms.
Besides music, I work in the field of international biodiversity policy. When I’m not engaged in that or making music, you find me at the beach, working out, journaling or reading /listening to non-fiction.
