It’s a tremendous privilege indeed to have one of the true paragons of reggae music performing at this year’s Le Guess Who? Festival. Even if you haven’t heard the name Dawn Penn before, you’ll most definitely recognize her smash hit 'You Don’t Love Me (No, No, No)'. Initially recorded at Coxsone Dodd’s Studio One during the 60s rocksteady era, the song was given second life in 1993 by dancehall producer tandem Steely & Clevie. This not only earned Penn newfound acclaim after a 17-year sabbatical from the music industry, it granted her the required leeway to launch label Da Beat as a vehicle for both present and past material.
