Prototype

Uit: Los Angeles - Amerika

In 1994, the two remaining members of prominent aggressive thrash band Psychosis formed Prototype. When they released their demo "Seed" the year after, it was praised worldwide as a benchmark for today's aggressive progressive metal. In 1997, Prototype enters the studio to record "Cloned", a session which marked the first collaboration with drummer Pat Magrath (ex-Killing Culture). Bassist Kirk Scherer completed Prototype's line-up in 1999. But it was not until 2002 that Prototype would release their second album "Trinity". It was worth the wait, since the album is their strongest work to date. On "Trinity", Prototype continues to push the boundaries of metal's status quo, crushing the rules of meshing styles. Aggressive and progressive, combined in compositions that are astonishingly melodic while still retaining a heavy attitude. And this heavy blend is no wonder. In the past few years, the band have gained notoriety through numerous successful tribute albums to honour pioneering thrash, metal and progressive bands. They have shared the stage with bands such as Fates Warning, Death, Hammerfall, Nevermore, Mercyful Fate, Entombed, Exodus, Flotsam & Jetsam, Morbid Angel and Grip Inc. Add that to their thrash roots, and you know where it all comes from. Prototype recently parted ways with Magrath, and welcomed back Damion Ramirez on drums. The band are finishing the recordings for their third full length album. The band are trying hard to find a record deal to reach an audience beyond the limits of their independent self-promotion. Both fans and critics think that action from the music industry is long overdue. We aggressively agree.
