MIA ZABELKA & PHILIPPE PETIT have started to go onstage and improv together for a few months and already convey an impression that they have known forever, being totally on the same wavelength.
Zabelka frames her musical language on the violin from her body’s gestures, i.e. physical movement is spontaneously translated into sound. She also transfers this access to the improvisation with her voice. The violin and her own voice and body are transformed in the process into sound bodies which are at once organic and primal, screaming, lyrical, composed and explosive.
While PETIT is assaulting turntables to take advantage of the vinyl material to fondle released sounds, raking the needle across the record's grooves, rubbing their stylus on paper, cardboard, metal to process unusual noises and textures… Headbutting... Dancing... Enjoying to perform and entertain his audience.
