Zun Zun Egui is de experimentele en kleurrijke speeltuin van zanger/gitarist Kushal Gaya (Mauritius) en keyboardspeler Yoshino Shigihara (Japan). De twee delen een liefde voor free jazz, tropicalia, punk funk, afrobeat, ethio jazz, no wave, feestjes en wilde shows en persen daar de überherkenbare sound van Zun Zun Egui uit. ‘Katang’, hun debuut op Bella Union, blies . The Guardian van zijn sokken: “Zun Zun Egui sounds like a great many things, but most of all like themselves… The wonder is that there are hooks here, melodies that grab… But for all the experimentation, ‘Katang’ manages to sound unselfconsciousness and exhilarating.”
