Rude Rich and the High Notes were founded in the spring of 1998, out of the need to preserve the original Jamaican music: ska, rock steady and early reggae. By definition Jamaican music and evolves very fast and the authentic styles were in danger of disappearing into oblivion, in the sense that there were not many bands left playing that kind of music. (Just the Skatalites, in fact. )Rude Rich and the High notes wanted to fill the gap.
